About Us

Stork Signs and More was born in the fall of 2000 while I was pregnant with my second child.  It was a culmination of two years of extensive research into various business opportunities and work-at-home jobs that would allow me to spend more time with my family.  Not only has it provided me with the ability to stay home, but it has been the most rewarding job I've ever had!

Having been raised by two corporate-working parents, my goal had always been to complete college and land a career in business.  I was perfectly happy working long hours, traveling for days at a time, and basically working my way "up the corporate ladder." 

And then it happened - I became pregnant with my first child.  Immediately I began having overwhelming urges to be more like a mom and less like the businesswoman that I had so successfully become.  As I entered my last trimester, I decided to start looking around just to see what kind of jobs I could perform at home.  Everywhere I turned, I ran into scams!  "Work At Home - Make Big Money!"   There just didn't seem to be any jobs for honest, hardworking people with a business degree. And since my husband and I had grown accustomed to our two incomes, we weren't in a position for me to quit working completely.

Eventually my first son was born in June 1999.  I still struggled with a desire to stay home and raise him - I couldn't bear the thought that someone else would be spending more time with my son every day than I would!  My friends and family reassured me that these feelings were normal and would eventually go away once I started back to work.

So after six short weeks, I returned to my full-time job still dreading every minute I spent away from my family.  I prayed that God would open up an at-home job for me, and I kept my ears open to every possibility.  Finally after becoming pregnant with my second child, I ran across a website one day offering startup packages for stork sign rental businesses.  I discussed the idea with my husband who was uncertain at first.  But I was excited and started researching it further.  This was something that I could do from my home and have a great time doing!  I would be dealing with people who were at an exciting chapter in their lives, and I could help them share their news with others.

So in September 2000 while I was six months pregnant, I began making storks. I set up my business and got my advertising ready just in time for my first customer - ME!  I had my second son in December  2000, and my husband had our stork in the yard when I came home from the hospital.  I was so excited to see the stork, and I knew that I was going to be able to provide that same excitement to many other proud new parents for years to come!

That following summer, I started adding birthday signs to my flock of storks.  I started with flamingos, cows, hearts and a buzzard sign that I designed myself.  Once again, I found that I was able to help others celebrate a special occasion.  I have since added crows and a large inflatable birthday cake to my inventory, and I plan on adding more signs soon. 

God has been very gracious to me and my family by providing us this business.  It is a joy and a privilege to be able to share His message, too.  Psalm 127:3 states, "Children are a gift of God; they are His reward."  What a wonderful blessing these little babies are!
